Meanwhile, Tamzin – who played Mel Owen – tweeted a cute picture of her with Babs and wrote: “Happy birthday to gorgeous Barbara Windsor … and sending so much love to Scott. .”
Tamzin Outhwaite took to Twitter to share her birthday tribute[/caption]Barbara’s husband, Scott Mitchell, recently confirmed he had made the heartbreaking decision to move his wife of 20 years into a care home as he Dementia worsens.
Just over two weeks ago, Scott took the advice of Barbara’s neurologist and placed her in a full-time, residential care home — an immensely painful decision that’s left him bereft.

“It’s always been my biggest fear, that one day I would have to take her somewhere and she’d be thinking, ‘Why would he do this to me?’
“That fear has become a reality. It’s something I never wanted,” he added.
The couple have done a lot in raising awareness for Dementia[/caption]Barbara was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in April 2014, but decided not to make the news public.
However, in May 2018 Scott made the decision to speak out about her ongoing illness and he’s since run the London Marathon with some of Barbara’s EastEnders co-stars to raise money for a dementia charity.
Barbara’s good pal Christopher Biggins revealed a few days ago that the actress is “happy and comfortable” in her new surroundings.

“It is such a difficult situation and Scott has behaved impeccably,” he explained.
“I don’t know how he has done it. He deserves the highest accolade that anybody can give anybody, together with all carers.
“The decision I know wasn’t easy but I think he has made the right decision for everybody concerned.”
