In a tribute issued through Greater Manchester Police, his family said: “Kidus was a happy, friendly boy who was always smiling.
“He was very smart and his mum was proud that he was the smartest boy in his class at school.
“He had lots of friends and loved to be out playing games with them. He also loved to play football and to go swimming.
“He liked Manchester United and his favourite player was Marcus Rashford.
“This lively, bubbly young boy had his whole life to look forward to and dreamed of being a policeman when he grew up.
“His whole family are devastated by his death and are struggling to comprehend that they will never see him again.”
The schoolboy had been cycling when he was struck by the car just before 6pm on August 9.
Speaking of the horror crash, devastated Regeat Nagasi said the little boy’s mum Zufan Yemane and his aunt had been watching him play when the crash happened.
She said: “He was riding his bike right outside his home when the car collided with him.
“I don’t know how the car hit him.”
‘THE BIGGEST SMILE’
Ms Nagasi remembered the young schoolboy, who recently celebrated his sixth birthday, as a footie fan who loved to play outside.
Ms Nagasi said: “He was a very active little boy and loved playing with his friends. He often played on our trampoline or kicked a football on the grass square outside.
“He always had the biggest smile on his face and loved being around other children.”
Kidus attended the nearby St Philip’s CE Primary School and had an older brother Jossy, 11.
Sadly, it’s the second tragedy to strike his family – Kidus’ mother Zufan Yemane lost her husband last year.

Kidus was rushed to hospital by air ambulance but sadly died a short time later.
A 32-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later released under investigation.
Sergeant Joseph Barron, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a devastating collision. Our thoughts are with the boys loved ones at what is understandably a heart breaking time for them.”
