The tour operator is reportedly resuming package holidays to the popular British tourist spots such as Majorca and Tenerife despite government advice against all but non-essential travel to the country.
Jet2 is restarting flights to British holiday favourites including Majorca and Ibiza next week, it has been reported[/caption]Spain is on the UK quarantine list following a spike in coronavirus cases meaning Britons returning from the country are required to self-isolate for two weeks.
And because of the Foreign Office warning against travelling to any Spanish region, tourists may not be covered by travel insurance.
But, according to the Mirror, Jet2 is resuming flights to mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands on August 30.
In a statement, Jet2 said: “Our programme is constantly being reviewed, so some additional changes may occur.
“Where this is the case, we will contact customers directly to discuss options.
“We will be in touch as soon as possible, so we urge affected customers not to contact us.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.”
This comes after Grant Shapps suggested yesterday that Spanish islands could be added to safe travel lists in future as the Government explores “regional” quarantines.
British tourists could rush back to Spain if the government lifts its travel restrictions for the Balearic and Canary Islands[/caption]The Transport Secretary told the BBC: “The islands, particularly the Spanish islands, when Spain went into lockdown, we saw in one the numbers coming up and in the other set the numbers coming down – so we do need to be absolutely sure that you’re capturing the disease as it actually is and sometimes it’s not quite as straightforward as it sounds.”
He added: “Where there are islands, I think it’s something we have said before we will look at and we are looking at. It depends on levels of data you have.
“We are looking in to how you can do regionalisation effectively.”

Meanwhile, Jet2 announced it was resuming flights to Portugal next week after the country was removed from the UK’s quarantine list.
From August 24, Jet2 will resume weekly flights from UK airports Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted and Manchester.
However, mainland Spain and France are unlikely to be holiday options for a while, according to Mr Shapps, as their Covid-19 cases continue to rise.
