What are the current lockdown restrictions in Glasgow?
As part of the new tightening of restrictions, which apply from midnight on September 3, households are not allowed to visit each other.
Residents should not visit someone else’s home or host people in their homes.
Care home visits must also take place outdoors, and only emergency hospital visits will be allowed in the three regions affected.
The guidance applies to the city of Glasgow as well as the areas of West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire – and will affect some 800,000 people.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the rules in a press conference on September 1, and confirmed they will stay in place for another two weeks but will also be reviewed after seven days.
Ms Sturgeon confirmed that the rules are only guidance at the moment, but said there is a possibility of “putting them into regulation and giving them the force of law”.
She also warned at the Covid-19 briefing that the government “may have to go further” should the measures not prove effective.
Pubs and restaurants across Glasgow will be allowed to stay open under the new guidance, along with gyms.

Are there any exceptions to the lockdown restrictions in Glasgow?
One exception to the new regulations is that “extended households” can meet up within the same “bubble” that they established during lockdown.
This includes single parents and partners who don’t live together.
Key workers will also be allowed to make informal childcare arrangements – meaning grandparents can look after their children.

How many coronavirus cases are there in Glasgow?
According to the First Minister, cases in west Dunbartonshire are nearing 33 per 100,000 people.
In Glasgow, this figure stands at 22 per 100,000.

And in East Renfrewshire, the figure is slightly lower at 19 per 100,000 people.
Ms Sturgeon told Holyrood on September 1 that 66 of the 154 new infections reported in Scotland in the past 24 hours had come from the Glasgow and Clyde area.

The average rate of cases per 100,000 in Scotland is around ten.
Tweeting on September 1, Ms Sturgeon wrote: “I know how difficult this will be – I am a Glasgow resident so these rules apply to me too – but they are essential to, I hope, nip this in bud and avoid tougher restrictions.
“Please – in every part of Scotland – stick to the #FACTS rules. That is vital to keep this virus under control.”
