AEW star Brodie Lee has revealed it is surreal to have the respect of wrestling legend Chris Jericho.
The Exalted One, known to WWE fans as Luke Harper, was contacted by Le Champion about joining Tony Khan’s promotion before he quit working for Vince McMahon.
While the 40-year-old was initially denied his release in April 2019, he was contacted again by Jericho when he finally walked out the door eight months later.
When asked if he needed much convincing to join the AEW revoultion, Lee told SunSport: “No, not convincing. It was more just my situation and where we stood at the time that I couldn’t make any moves.
“But knowing that a legend like Chris Jericho respects me to that level, to want to bring me to a new promotion to make a difference, to make history in professional wrestling, that’s a very special, very cool thing.
“I’ve checked in a lot with him throughout the time, throughout my career. And especially now in AEW a lot of the stuff we’re doing now I check in with him.

“It’s a very, very cool resource to have that seems surreal to me still when you think about it.”
In his short time in AEW, Lee has already challenged Jon Moxley for the promotion’s top belt and captured the TNT title from Cody Rhodes.
Arn Anderson has since named the former Wyatt family member as one of his top picks to be in a modern version of the fabled Four Horsemen group alongside Cody and FTR, aka The Revival.
Lee added: “I love the man deeply. My wife didn’t talk to me for a few days because I punched Arn Anderson in the face, that’s how much Arn is loved in my household.

He told SunSport: “It was actually very, very cool.
“We had filmed that show, I believe, a few days before, and my son overheard, or he might have seen the show previous where I called Cody out and told him I was coming to get the belt for my son.
“While I was away at the show, my wife recorded a conversation with him where he said ‘Mom, it’d be really cool if I woke up tomorrow with the belt in my bed’ and knowing nothing of it.
“So then I come home – First thing I did was walk up to the room, put it in the bed and he woke up freaking out, carried it around, hasn’t left his side.
“He gets upset with me when I have to take it to work. I might have a challenger at home before I have one at work.”

“I think Arn would understand what I did to him was business and we can hopefully get past it in the future because he is a great man and a legend.
“As for a four horsemen type stable I’m a little spoken for, I have my own backup. I don’t need an FTR and I certainly don’t need a Cody.
“I don’t know how much help Cody would be to anybody when he’s out of action.”
