IT’S been well over a year since The Jonas Brothers announced their memoir Blood.
But fans eager for a copy will be disappointed, as the book has been relegated to the shredder.
The autobiography, chronicling the rise of siblings Kevin, Nick and Joe, was originally due for release last November, before being pushed back to May this year and then October.
While the bulk of it has been written and the brothers insisted in July they were still working to make it “perfect”, I’m told the whole idea has now been scrapped.
A source said: “The book is still online for pre-order but the publishers have been told it has been cancelled, that it’s not going to be released.
“A lot of time went into it but none of them could agree on how it should look or what should and shouldn’t be included.
“They had a writer working with them and had poured their hearts out on the pages, but it’s been plagued with issues.
“There are people in the team who would like to get the book off the ground at some point.
“But as far as the publishers are concerned, it’s not happening any more.”
The brothers reunited in 2019, six years after a bitter split, and had huge success with their album Happiness Begins and a subsequent tour. An album due this year was delayed by Covid.
US singer Joe made the book announcement in May last year and promised fans a tell-all look at their rags-to-riches tale.
He said at the time: “We’re three brothers from New Jersey and we were not supposed to be successful.
“From record labels dropping us to our dad losing his job over us, this shouldn’t have happened — or lasted as long as it did.
“Yet here we are . . . ready to tell the full story of the journey we’ve had.”
It’s surely the worst case of writer’s block.
Wes: Isle do music
Wes Nelson is turning his back on reality TV for music, two years after shooting to fame on ITV2’s Love Island.
But unlike the cash-grabbing, shortlived music careers of Katie Price and Chris & Kem – former Love Islanders Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay – he insists he’s the real deal.
I was sceptical at first, but now Wes has landed a major record agreement with Universal. And he can already count Hollywood’s Idris Elba and boxing champ Anthony Joshua as fans of his debut single See Nobody, which came out last night.
In an exclusive chat, Wes said: “TV is really good financially but not everything in life is about money. It’s about what makes you tick and what makes you happy. Music is what fulfils me more than anything.
“This isn’t a passion project for me. This is a career change with passion.
“This isn’t just a little temporary, ‘Let’s fling a song out and see how it does’. It is genuinely me committing to music.”
Even he can see that people might be unsure whether he really has the talent to make it in music.
But Wes is convinced he will win over the public after spending months working on his craft.
He continued: “The music will do the talking. I can scream it from the rooftops and try to convince people I’m a music artist but the music has to convince people. This is my first track, so it’s only going to get better.”
Despite his romping on telly and having a stint on Dancing On Ice, he has no misgivings about his reality TV past – and it has made him believe he can make it as a singer.
Wes added: “I have no regrets whatsoever. I’ve had the best two years, I’ve met the best people and had loads of fun.
“It’s given me the confidence to do music. That’s the only thing I didn’t have before – the confidence.
“But telly’s not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. That is music.”

Taylor’s sequin success
Taylor Swift glittered in this red sequinned top at the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards – the first time she’s been seen out in ages.
She performed her tune Betty from recent album Folklore at the ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, in the US, but missed out on winning her tenth ACM Award.
Taylor made a point of wearing trousers to the ceremony due to the overwhelming dominance of male artists in country music.
It was a sentiment Carrie Underwood agreed with.
Carrie, gearing up to release her new album My Gift next Friday, said: “I would always love to see more women given opportunities.”
Carrie became the first woman to take home Entertainer of the Year for the third time.
Taylor had done her bit to help out British business earlier in the day by sending signed CDs of her album to a record store in Edinburgh – Assai Records.
She has been sending the CDs to shops that have lost business due to the pandemic.
Dominic Thomson, the store’s assistant manager, said: “They are all gone. We posted about it on Twitter and within an hour and a half they had been sold.”

Sam dazzles in Diamonds
Sam Smith was forced to delay third album To Die For because of its unfortunate title at the height of the pandemic.
But I’m thrilled to reveal it will now be out on October 30 with the new title Love Goes.
The best-selling singer-songwriter has completed work on it and has today released brilliant new single Diamonds from the upcoming collection.
The track is all about a gold-digger ex and is unlikely to be on the playlist of Sam’s last ex-boyfriend, 13 Reasons Why actor Brandon Flynn.
In the first verse, Sam sings: “All the special things I bought, they mean nothing to me any more.
“But to you they were everything we were, they meant more than every word, now I know just what you loved me for.”
The album features 11 songs, including a collaboration with Labrinth on the title track, as well as several bonus tunes such as No1 hit Promises with Calvin Harris.
Sam said of the record: “The last two years has been the most experimental time of my life, personally but also musically.
“Every time I went into the studio I promised myself I would shoot for the stars. The result has been so magical, therapeutic and fun.”

Elderbrook stunned
British singer Elderbrook has told how he was stunned when super-producer Diplo contacted him out of the blue asking to work with him.
The musician – who has previously collaborated with Camelphat and Rudimental – is now a firm friend of Diplo’s.
In an exclusive interview to mark the release today of his album, Why Do We Shake In The Cold? Elderbrook explained: “I go out to LA to write with people and one day I checked my DMs on Instagram and I saw Diplo’s name.
“I was so taken aback. I didn’t realise people like that would just reach out. He asked me to do a session and we have been writing together ever since. It is really cool.”
Elderbrook, real name Alex Kotz, also revealed he had written two songs in tribute to his fiancée Sophie on the record – but has decided against using either of the romantic tunes as the first dance at their wedding next year.
He added: “We were meant to marry when lockdown happened so it’s next year.
“Next December is written about my proposal and All My Love is about a ring Sophie gave me when we first met.
“I thought about it for the first dance and wanted to get the band to play it. But it felt a bit like, ‘Everyone look at me, I wrote a song’.”
