A MUM has finally been able to give her stepdaughters their own bedroom – after transforming a dingy utility room.
Lizzy Hutchinson lives with her partner, 17-year-old son and daughter in a three-bed house – including one “box room”.
A clever mum has turned this small utility room into a spare bedroom[/caption] Now her stepdaughters have a place of their own when they visit at weekends[/caption]But the family were struggling on weekends, when her partner’s two daughters would come to stay, making them a family-of-six.
Posting on Facebook’s DIY on a Budget group, she said: “We were finding it hard to accommodate us as a family of 6 every weekend.”
Lizzy added: “My partners two girls were bunking wherever. Sometimes in box room with mine or on sofa.
“Finally got round to make them their own room using a small weird utility area which we didnt use but for build up of recycling.
“Now the girls have a lovely space for themselves! The happiness on their faces made this all worthwhile!”
Lizzy Hutchinson has a son, 17, and a daughter who live with them full-time[/caption] She has transformed the room for less than £150 – including the bunk bed[/caption]The mum says the job cost less than £150 – including the bunk bed, photo frames and little extras.
She also used frenchic blackjack furniture paint – which you can buy for £17.95 – to upcycle the bed, as well as transforming the pipes and door frames.
Lizzy also shared before pics, which showed the scruffy room before, with exposed pipes and random holes in the walls.
But by adding a large grey rug, full-length mirror, polka dot bedding, small storage drawers, fake plants, photo frames and fairy lights round the bed, she’s made the space much more homely.
The mum added thoughtful touches so the girls would really feel at home[/caption] She was praised for the kind gesture on Facebook[/caption]Most read in Fabulous
