MAYA Jama insists it “didn’t feel weird” dating Stormzy because they met aged 20 before finding fame.
Maya, 26, dated Stormzy from 2015 to 2019 and while the presenter was making major waves in her own career as a radio DJ and Instagram star.

But she shot to stardom practically overnight when Stormzy became a chart-topping rapper.
The pair flew under the radar before his first hit Shut Up entered the top ten in the UK charts in December 2015, and they slowly began going public with their romance in 2016.
Opening up about their time in the spotlight together on Sunday’s episode of Shopping with Keith Lemon, Maya insisted they were “a normal couple” behind closed doors.
Keith takes Maya for a round of mini golf in The Sun’s exclusive clip, and says: “It’s time to dig deep and ask her abou her ex Stormzy.”

And the stunner says: “I didn’t ever feel like a celebrity couple.
“Everyone else made it like that. We just had a normal relationship. And then everyone was just talking about it.
“We met when we were like 20, before anyone cared about us. So then it was just a normal relationship.
“Basically, I always said it was like a normal relationship but people wanted to look at it more and talk about it more.”

Stormzy dedicated his song Birthday Girl to Maya on her 22nd birthday – something which she said was a “great present because it will last forever”.
She also made appearances in some of his music videos, including Big For Your Boots, and the pair would regularly make red carpet appearances together.
Prior to their split, Stormzy was ready to propose to his other half. He told the Sunday Mirror: “I’m still so young but I want to propose, it’s going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best.”
Sadly it wasn’t to be, and the pair split towards the end of last year.

The rapper appeared to address the split on his album Heavy is The Head last year.
In the track Lessons, he admits he had “done the dirt” during their four-year relationship.
The lyrics also include “the greatest love I ever knew” and “it’s too hard to forgive”.

The rapper even revealed they spoke about having a baby together.
Stormzy, real name Michael Omari, said: “It was a hot topic and I’m going on record now and I’m apologising.
“I’m trying to lay it all bare and be very truthful. I’m not trying to shy away from it.
“It was a public disrespect. It was a public disrespect that needed a public apology.”
