STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left in tears this evening as the BBC One dance show paid tribute to Britain’s war heroes.
Tonight’s results episode opened with the professional dancers performing a poignant routine in honour of Remembrance Sunday.
Making it all the more moving amid a difficult year, the dance was to Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again.
Earlier this year, the Queen sparked wartime spirit by referencing the 1939 song as she addressed the nation amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Strictly performance opened with the dancers in an open field, before it transitioned into the studio after a verbal interlude from Dame Vera, who passed away in June of this year.
It also included poignant images from the year being projected – including Captain Tom Moore.
Viewers at home were understandably blown away by the routine, taking to Twitter to share their reaction.
One fan wrote: “What an emotional opening I’m in tears.”
Another added: “Nothing can reduce me to tears quicker than seeing Captain Tom.”

A third shared: “That was such a beautiful routine and tribute to Dame Vera Lynn”.
One more agreed: “Oh my word, what a beautiful tribute, I’m in tears.”
Nicola Adams with her professional partner Katya Jones were the first pair to land in the dance-off this evening, going up against Jason Bell and Luba Mushtuk.
NFL player Jason became the second contestant to leave the competition after all three judges voted to save Nicola.
