A 15-year-old, who cannot be named, was charged with attempted murder, possessing a shotgun with intent to cause fear of injury of another person and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Ipswich Crown Court today heard how a ballistics expert found the victim was blasted with the 12 gauge Beretta Over and Under shotgun from a distance of about five feet.
The teen was remanded in custody ahead of a psychiatric report being carried out.
He entered no pleas and will next appear at the same court on February 22.
The boy was arrested around two hours after the shooting five miles away in Ipswich.
A car was seized at the time of the arrest, from which a long-barrelled firearm was recovered.
Both him and the teen were “good pals” for years but were said to have fallen out.
