Who will be Christmas No.1 in 2020?
The race for the UK Christmas No.1 is hotting up now the festive season is well under way.
With plenty of Christmas classics on the current charts – including Wham!, Mariah Carey, The Pogues and Band Aid – it’s possible that Mariah Carey could continue to top the charts for last weeks of December.
Here are the three singles that could make it all the way to No 1 this Christmas.
Mariah Carey – ‘All I Want For Christmas’
Currently standing as the UK No 1 after 26 years, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ is the favourite to win this year’s charts.
Paddy Power puts the beloved Christmas hit – which famously featured in Love, Actually – at 11/8 odds of winning.
Completing a 26-year journey to climb to the top of the charts, when the song was first released in 1994, All I Want For Christmas Is You peaked at Number 2.
The now Christmas classic just missed out on the coveted Number 1 that year to East 17’s Stay Another Day.

Wham! – ‘Last Christmas’
Currently at No 2 in the UK charts, nostalgic 1980s hit ‘Last Christmas’ is set at 14/1 odds to win the coveted No 1 spot this year.
Written by George Michael and released in 1984, the heartbreaking festive ballad has jumped three spots to get to No 2 and could just pip Mariah Carey to the post.
George Michael died on Christmas Day 2016, which sparked efforts to get Last Christmas to No 1 the following year – but Ed Sheeran eventually won the spot.
