Tom, 58, has been seen wearing a $14.99 covering from Jupiter Gear with a carbon filter and two breathing valves.
The mask is mostly designed to be worn during physical activity, with the valves working to “release hot, humid exhaled breath quickly”, TMZ reported.
In fact, the CDC has warned against wearing masks with valves because “this type of mask may not prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others”.
The institute added: “The hole in the material may allow your respiratory droplets to escape and reach others.”

In The Sun’s exclusive audio tape of Tom shouting, the Hollywood megastar is heard screaming: “If I see you doing it again, you’re f****** gone.”
The actor took offence to two members of the Mission Impossible 7 crew who were caught standing less than six feet apart while looking at a screen, despite both wearing masks.
Tom shouts: “If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again.”
The Sun exclusively revealed on Wednesday that five members of staff working on set at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Herts, have now quit Mission: Impossible amid a second meltdown by the star.

According to a source, another eruption followed on Tuesday night as news of his rant emerged.
The source revealed: “The first outburst was big but things haven’t calmed since. Tension has been building for months and this was the final straw.
“Since it became public there has been more anger and several staff have walked.”

The insider added: “But Tom just can’t take any more after all the lengths they have gone to just to keep filming at all.
“He’s upset others aren’t taking it as seriously as him. In the end, he’s the one who carries the can.”
Cruise was left frustrated that his efforts to keep filming going during the pandemic could be at risk.
In The Sun’s exclusive recording of Tom’s rant, he blasts: “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers”

“That’s it. No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f***ing homes because our industry is shut down.”
Since his rant went viral, photos have emerged of Tom and his co-star girlfriend Hayley Atwell filming in Rome in October.
In the shots, Tom is seen with a face mask on chatting happily to Hayley who also has a face mask on – however hers has slipped down her nose and only covers her mouth.
However it is possible the actors were about to shoot a scene.
