KATE Garraway has shared a sweet video of a playfight with 11-year-old son Billy after she caught him bunking off online schooling.

The 53-year-old star offered fans a rare glimpse into her home life with her children while husband Derek continues fighting for his life in hospital.

Kate enjoyed a joyous moment of respite from her heartache

In a joyous moment of respite from her heartache, the Good Morning Britain presenter can be seen sneaking up on Billy as he filmed a video in their open plan kitchen and living area.

The cheeky youngster sets up the camera, saying: “Today I’m going to be climbing on this, don’t tell anyone but I’m supposed to be online schooling but I’m watching TV.”

Billy then begins to climb on the sofa, with Kate’s voice heard out of shot, asking: “Bill, are you actually doing any work?”

When he earnestly replies: “Yes”, she continues: “Are you sure?” before walking in and catching him red-handed.

The fun-loving mum gasps: “You’re not!” before throwing balls at him, with Billy screeching: “What the hell!”

He then grabs a lightsaber and chases after Kate to get his own back, with squeals of delight heard after both ran out of shot.

Kate captioned the adorable clip: “Where have you got to with home schooling in your house ? This is where we are! Think it was me that learnt a lesson here – don’t mess with an 11 yr old with a light sabre!!!

“So glad it’s #friday tomorrow join us on @gmb from 6 for all the latest #covid news, #love in #lockdown with @joeyessex AND a debate on #burntout parents!”

Earlier today, Kate returned to our screens on Good Morning Britain – revealing that she’d been given extended time off because she’d been struggling to sleep.

The star also told of her heartache as she explained that she’d not been able to visit her husband Derek in hospital since Christmas due to stricter lockdown rules.

She said: “I haven’t been able to see him since Christmas, we’re back into situation of looking at strangers in masks.

“That’s the situation for everybody at the moment. It’s tough. When you’re someone like him, dealing with a consciousness problem and trying to emerge, I can’t help but fear it’s not helpful.

“There’s no end in sight to that. There’s no one to blame or be angry with. It’s tough.”

Derek was rushed to hospital with coronavirus in March and still remains in intensive care as the UK’s longest-surviving covid patient.

Kate’s co-star Piers Morgan previously revealed that she’d been warned Derek may “never come out of his coma”, with the star telling fans that her husband’s body had been “ravaged” by the deadly illness.

Derek and Kate married in 2005 and are mum and dad to 14-year-old Darcey as well as Billy, with the two children able to visit him in hospital shortly before Christmas for the first time.
