Man Utd boss Solskjaer confirms he is ‘following’ Erling Haaland and reveals special relationship with Dortmund star
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he is keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian played a role in his young compatriot’s development having coached him during his time as Molde manager in 2017.
The pair looked set to reunite at United last year when he quit Red Bull Salzburg only to end up at Bundesliga giants Haaland.
The 20-year-old has racked up 38 goals in just 40 appearances in Germany and has been linked with a move Real Madrid.
But Solskjaer refused to be drawn into whether he would lean on his special relationship with Haaland to lure him to Old Trafford.
He told Norwegian outlet VG: “It is clear that Erling will have a fantastic career. I’m following Erling. I’ve always said that.

“Was it 18 months we had together or something? Almost two years, maybe. A wonderful time.
“He will definitely have a great career for both Norway and his club. He is doing incredibly well for Dortmund so we’ll see where he ends up.
“As a Norwegian and someone who has worked with him, it is of course fun that he does so well.
“We will do what we can to become a better team. He will do what he can to become a better player.

Haaland’s future could be decided by whether Dortmund miss out on Champions League football this season.
BVB are currently sixth in the Bundesliga, a whopping 16 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
