The former host had stormed out of the studio after Alex criticised his response to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the US on Sunday night.
Loose Women host Charlene White appeared to address Piers’s actions on Twitter, writing: “When the power starts shifting, toys get thrown out of the pram. Do not allow amateur dramatics to dilute the core – and important – message.”
The post was then liked by Alex.
The weatherman and presenter’s comments that Piers was bitter about being “cut off” by Meghan when she first moved to the UK were what appeared to really rankle his co-star.

He said: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.
“She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to.”
It prompted a dramatic exit from Piers, who stormed off the set saying he’d had enough.
Alex called it “pathetic” and “diabolical behaviour”, continuing: “I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen, 6.30 to 7 o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch, incredibly hard to watch, this is, you know he has the ability to come in here and talk from a position where he doesn’t fully understand.”

After the break, Alex continued his assessment of the Harry and Meghan interview.
“They have had an overwhelming amount of negative press,” he said.
“I watched it again yesterday and yes they had some great press around the wedding, but everything that has followed since has been damaging to Meghan’s mental health”
He reasoned with the Piers: “I’m not coming on this show to try and tear you down,
“I also want you to be aware of the power of your words.”
Hours later, Alex explained his actions on social media, telling followers: “I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence. In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do.
“It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us to feel more comfortable.”

Piers, who dubbed the Meghan and Harry interview a ‘trashathon’, quit GMB yesterday afternoon after refusing to apologise for commenting that he didn’t believe Meghan Markle was suicidal.
ITV bosses and the star presenter were left at loggerheads, and Piers took the decision to walk away.
Doubling down this morning, he told his 7.8million followers: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.
“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t.

“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on.
“Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
He quoted Winston Churchill on free speech, adding: “Some people’s idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they are like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage.”
