Leandro Trossard, Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay were on target as the Seagulls relieved their relegation concerns and piled the pressure on Bruce and Co.
The Toon have collected just two wins in their past 18 league games and are anchored in 17th position.
Newcastle were a ten points clear of the relegation zone in February but now sit a couple of points above Scott Parker’s Fulham.
Bruce has said that he’ll ‘never walk away’ from his role as manager.
But he might be left with no option after bookmakers Betfair slashed his odds of dismissal from 4/1 to 8/11.

After the defeat, Bruce told Sky Sports: “I’ll take full responsibility.
“We were nowhere near the levels we need to be. That’s a concern. It’s very difficult. We’re still confident we can get out of the situation. I’ll never give up the fight.”
Graeme Jones, Chris Wilder and Rafa Benitez are currently the leading contenders to replace Bruce is owner Mike Ashley wields the axe.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is second in the market at 5/1.
The Spurs boss was favourite before the weekend’s fixtures after successive defeats to arch-rivals Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb.
But a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa has seen his price drift from evens (1/1) back out to 5/1.
Sam Allardyce follows next at 5/1.
Big Sam looks to be heading for the first top-flight relegation of his managerial career with the Baggies stranded in 19th – 10 points from safety.
Wolves’ Nuno Espirito Santo and interim Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom complete the market, both priced at 14/1.
