NAOMI Campbell’s fans are speculating that she may have given birth after they spotted what looks like a hospital bracelet in her baby announcement photo.
The supermodel shocked the world yesterday when she revealed she had become a mum to a little girl at the age of 50.
Naomi has spoken for several years of her desire to have a baby and once said “science” can help her to have one at any age.
The star, who has been secretly dating a US boyfriend for the past 18 months, was photographed looking slim as recently as last month.
According to reports some friends believe she used a surrogate to fulfil her baby dream, while others now think she may have actually have carried the baby herself and given birth
What appears to be a hospital band is seen on her wrist[/caption]Yesterday Naomi made her announcement alongside a picture of her newborn and wrote: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother.
“So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”
In the image she is holding her daughters feet in her hands and a band can be seen on her wrist – similar to worn one in hospitals.
The supermodel is thought to have a secret boyfriend in the US[/caption]Taking to Twitter to speculate, one person wrote: “Anyways so this child is with her egg though? That’s all I’m tryin know. Looks like she got on a hospital band tho.”
Another person added: “By the picture she posted, she has the hospital bracelet on her wrist.”
While a third remarked: “She’s got a hospital band on, she must have given birth.”
Naomi was last picture on the Michael Kors Collection Fall Winter runway last month[/caption]London-born Naomi is believed to have told only a select few family members and friends of her impending motherhood.
She kept the news hidden from her team until just half an hour before yesterday’s announcement.
Last night a friend said: “This is typical Naomi. She loves to surprise people and keep them on their toes. It is really fantastic and happy news.
The star tagged her mum Valerie Morris-Campbell in her post[/caption]“At a time when everything feels so negative in the showbiz world, she hopes this will help lift some spirits.”
Naomi was last seen in public on April 20, without a bump, when she arrived for the Michael Kors show at New York Fashion Week.
She has spoken several times in the past about how she hoped to become a mother – with or without a partner.
She said in 2014: “I do want to have children, whether I have a man or not. I will have it on my own.”
Three years later Naomi said: “I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.”
She previously dated rapper Skepta[/caption]But in 2019 she revealed she felt comfortable enough with her “chosen family”, which includes her protege, South Sudanese model Adut Akech, 21.
Asked if she felt ready for children, she said: “Not yet – I’ll see what the universe brings me. For now, what the universe has delivered is very much in the spirit of a ‘chosen family’.”
At that time Naomi had been secretly dating pop star Liam Payne.
The couple enjoyed a romance for two months before ending their relationship in April.
Prior to that The Sun revealed how Naomi was secretly dating rapper Skepta.
Naomi has also been engaged twice but never married.
