YOU might think you’ve got enough baby food stashed away in your kitchen cupboards – but trust us, you can always use more.
So when this savvy mum saw Ella’s Kitchen, Cow & Gate and Heinz By Nature reduced to clear in her local ASDA, she rushed to stock up.
Posting on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the thrilled mum shared a photo of her whopping haul – which would have originally set her back over £50.
Alerting other shoppers to the savings, she wrote: “Asda selling lots of baby food cheap- I asked and she said it was all stores!
“Got all this for around £5 and dated for 2022 & 2023!”
Along with 16 Ella’s Kitchen pouches (which usually cost £1.05 each), the mum also stocked up on 75p Cow & Gate jars.
For all the people saying ‘I wouldn’t feed this crap to my baby blah blah’, stop mum judging. A fed baby is a happy baby.
Finishing off her haul, the new mum picked up seven discounted boxes of Heinz By Nature’s £1.50 banana custard and two £2.95 tubs of porridge oats.
Unsurprisingly, the post racked up thousands of “likes” and comments from parents desperate to get in on the savings – but some critics took issue with what she chose to feed her baby.
“When I see these baby food I just think of all the unnatural ingredients in them,” one said. “I did give them to my daughter once and read the ingredient list. Wow it was longer than my arm. Never again. Fresh fruit and veg all the way for me.”
“That is a really good bargain, but to be honest I wouldn’t buy this kind of food for my baby,” another added. “They have so many concentrates in them and are not healthy, they expire in 2023, who knows what is really made of… “
Jumping to the mum’s defence, a third wrote: “For all the people saying ‘I wouldn’t feed this crap to my baby blah blah’, stop mum judging. A fed baby is a happy baby.”
