In scenes that will air on Thursday, Gemma said: “I only stay in suites or penthouses so when I got asked that question… twin beds, double… I really didn’t know the answer.”
Romesh, 43, asked: “Was there any part of you that thought ‘twin’ had something to do with it? If anything the question was too cheap for you wasn’t it.”
Gemma replied: “Basically yeah. Sorry guys.”
That left Romesh, who has taken over host duties from Anne Robinson, to utter the show’s famous catchphrase: “You are the weakest link, goodbye.”
As Gemma left the stage, the comedian added: “Enjoy the suite!
The former Towie star – dressed as an angel for the Christmas special – hit back: “Thanks hunny, I will!”
Gemma had been playing against celebs including Kym Marsh, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Christopher Biggins and Bonnie Langford.
It was a disappointing performance for Gemma, who branded her knowledge “like a historian” before the game began.
She said: “I was really good at history at school, I’m like a historian, people don’t know it but I did a project on Richard III, and basically I was so good at history at school, also geography, I’m amazing at geography.

“I used to watch Anne on the original series, but as you know hunnies I am all gamed out, I don’t play games so it’s not something I ever dreamed or envisaged of doing.
“But when I saw Romesh was doing it and he is hilarious, I was like ‘Go on then, I’ll do it’.”
The telly icon had been playing to raise funds for Havens House children’s charity in Essex.
After the show Gemma blamed the pressure for her fail.
She added: “I can’t tell you or underestimate how challenging it is when you are up there! You just freeze there is so much going on, you’ve got the lights, you’ve got to answer in a few seconds and you don’t want to let the team down so it’s quite pressurised hun.
“It’s Christmas and at the end of the day I’m here for fun! I’m not one of these people that takes things seriously in life, do you know what I mean?
“Yeah I come on, I saw and I conquered and I’m leaving it to the rest of them now.”
“Life’s complete! I’ve been on The Weakest Link, it has been fun and yeah one for the CV hunny!”
The Weakest Link first aired in 2000 and ran until 2011.
And now Romesh is back with a rebooted version of the show.
Watch Gemma play The Weakest Link on BBC One on Thursday at 6.30pm.
