ARMED cops swooped today after a woman was attacked with acid on her own doorstep after answering her front door.

She is now in a stable condition and the effects are not life-threatening, police said.
It was believed that the incident was a targeted attack and that the perpetrator had run off from the scene.
A man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remained in custody last night.
A specialist decontamination team, cops, three fire engines and paramedics attended after the 10.53am assault in Portslade, East Sussex.

Sussex Police said: “Emergency services responded to a report of a woman who was sprayed with a noxious substance at an address in Brasslands Drive, Portslade.
“Police are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
“No one else has been harmed and there is no threat to the public.”
It was understood that the noxious substance thrown over the woman was acid-based although no details have yet been given by police.
Any witnesses to the incident as asked to report online or ring 101 quoting serial 742 of Jan 1.
