JESS Glynne’s record-breaking success hasn’t been enough to keep her in a recording deal.
I can reveal she has shockingly split from her label Atlantic after a series of rows about her future.
She wanted to reinvent herself and move away from radio-friendly songs.
But cash hungry music bosses wanted her to keep producing mainstream pop and that led to the fallout after eight years of working together.
A music insider said: “There was a series of rows and everyone was on a different page.
“Jess felt she had earned the right to control the direction of her music but the label thinking was, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. It came down to Jess wanting to produce music that resonates with her over churning out radio-friendly hits.
“She is keen to reset her career and almost start again after taking time out.”
Jess has had seven No1 singles — a record for a British female.
She is still keen to work with a big label rather than go totally independent and is in talks with a number of music heavyweights about a new deal.

Her 2015 debut I Cry When I Laugh topped the charts and went four times platinum.
Follow-up Always In Between also went to No1 in 2018.
Her most recent hit was festive single This Christmas, a 2020 No3.
More recently Jess has kept a low profile.
She deleted her Instagram account for a year after abuse from the cancel-culture mob over misguided comments about transgender people.
But it sounds like she is gearing up to return this year with a new sound and new approach.
Atlantic told The Sun last night: “This is an exciting period of creative growth and new beginnings for Jess. We wish her all the best.”
She’ll be back in the charts in no time.
Jenny’s fuschia plans

And I can reveal she is gearing up to drop a new video alongside Latin rapper Maluma.
They star opposite each other in upcoming romcom Marry Me and have shot a video for a song of the same name, with them in character as Kat and Bastian, which is expected to drop next month.
A music source said: “Universal bosses hope the quirky idea will help send the film up box office charts after the industry was hammered due to Covid.”
With that, as well as the cash from this fashion campaign, she might even be able to upgrade from a bike to a car.
Ed in weird new secret collaboration
ED Sheeran is set to go to No1 in the singles charts yet again tomorrow but he is already lining up another huge tune – and pulling out all the stops for the video.
I can reveal the superstar has travelled to France and is filming the visuals for a top secret collaboration.
A source said: “Ed is non-stop. He is in France filming a new music video for another collab
“The track will really shock people. It’s safe to say it’s weird – but in a good way.”
He scored four No1 singles last year alone and his song Peru, with Fireboy DML, is on track to be his first chart topper of 2022, rising from No4 last week.
And as I told you earlier this month Ed will also be one of the huge stars booked to perform at the Brit Awards in just under a fortnight.
He is up for four gongs at the ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on February 8, including Album, Song and Artist of the Year.
Just looking at his schedule makes me tired.
Right on cue, Madge
A GAME of pool must last a lifetime in Madonna’s house.
The superstar decided to strike a pose on the table with a cue at home in the States before opening up about her hopes to tour again, this time with Britney Spears, who she kissed at the 2003 MTV VMAs.
Asked if she would like to tour again, Madge said: “Hell yeah. I’ve got to. Stadiums baby. Me and Britney, what about that? It would be really cool. We could reenact the original kiss.”
Madge is hard at work re-writing her biopic and already has a title, which name-checks one of her songs from 2000.
Madge explained: “I was thinking What It Feels Like For A Girl, that’s kind of cool, right?
“It’s also really weird to be writing about my life and my past and not living my life. I feel like I’m living in the past a lot and it’s a bit of a mind f***.”
During an Instagram Live she was also asked how many women she has slept with.
She admitted: “A handful. I’ve probably had crushes on more.”
Caity’s shock ‘n’ role
IF there was a category for the most outspoken artist in British music at next month’s Brit Awards, rising singer-songwriter Caity Baser would be the bookies’ favourite.
She is taking no prisoners when it comes to her material.
Telling me about her recent song STD, she said: “I was 16 and my boyfriend at the time cheated on me.
“I didn’t even really love him that much, I didn’t really care, but my friend told me she saw him cheating on me at a pub.
“When I started doing music in 2020 with the producers Future Cut, I told them about it and just said, ‘He cheated on me, I don’t care but I hope he got STDs’, then that’s how it happened.”
Caity, who is made up that she has been compared to Lily Allen, played a show at Colours in East London on Tuesday.
She added about Lily: “I love how honest she is, ‘I’m straight to the point – I’m going to write a song about you because you’re a d**k’.
“I like being truthful and funny.
Covid hits Liam show
LIAM Payne has done an Adele and had a show hit by Covid.
The One Direction singer had planned to perform a special online gig on Saturday but said last night he has had to axe it because his time out with the virus has impacted rehearsals.
Liam said: “I’m so sorry to announce that I’m having to push back the next Here’s To The Future Show.
“Unfortunately I had Covid and will not be ready in time to give you the gig you all deserve.”
It has been rescheduled for next month.
Hopefully Adele, who has also postponed her Las Vegas residency, will follow Liam’s lead and rearrange her dates soon.
Nas lift for Daz
SAVAGE Garden frontman Darren Hayes is making a comeback as a solo artist with his first music in a decade.
He is back today with his song Let’s Try Being In Love, inspired by his time being in the closet at the height of his career in the late Nineties.
The Insatiable singer said: “I look at this world we live in now, where someone like Lil Nas X can push forward his true self, full of pride and self-love and have the chance to be loved for who he truly is.
“I was realising with great sadness I didn’t get that experience.
“A lot of the time I was my most famous I was deeply sad.”
“That’s why I like Lily Allen, because that’s what she does.”
Tove’s wedding a lo for parents
TOVE LO has opened up for the first time about her surprise wedding in Las Vegas to boyfriend Charlie Twaddle, admitting that her parents weren’t best pleased, as they were back home in Sweden.
In an exclusive chat, she said: “They were not happy about that.
“They were being very sweet, trying to be like, ‘We are so happy for you’, but I think they were pretty sad that they didn’t get to be there.”
Tove, who wed in 2020, continued: “It was the right moment to do it.
“I never wanted to get married so the fact that it even happened, they were in shock and happy about that.”
The Swedish singer, whose new album is out later this year, added: “Every time I take a step towards a more traditional life they are like, ‘Good, she is normal’.
“That’s what a lot of the album is about though. I don’t want a traditional life.”
Yesterday she dropped a one-off single, How Long, which features in the HBO TV teen drama Euphoria.
She said: “I’ve been manifesting and telling everyone I’ve met who works on it like, ‘I would love to have a song on your show’. That’s a really amazing step back out.”
