What happens if I miss the university application deadline?
The deadline for the majority of undergraduate courses commencing in autumn 2022 was Wednesday, January 26, at 6pm UK time.
University admission services USCAS has said applicants should make sure they enter their qualifications and references correctly and leave plenty of time to complete the application.
Prospective students who miss the January deadline can still apply for courses – but some may be full.
The final deadline for late UCAS applications is Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 6pm.
You can still apply until September 28, 2022, 6pm – you will be entered into ‘Clearing’, which universities use to fill any leftover places.

How can I defer for a year?
If you want to delay a university offer, you will need to make that clear in your UCAS application.
Reasons will need to be provided to explain why you are wanting to defer.
Your application will still be processed but you should explain any interest in wanting to have a gap year in the personal statement section.
The qualifying process will still apply however and the request will be considered against all the other conditions.
If you want to defer your studies once you’ve already submitted the application, you will need to contact your university directly.
Valid reasons will need to be given and an assessment will be made on a case-by-case basis.
