I’m a fake tan whizz – why shaving EVERYWHERE can help your glow last for days
FAKE tan really helps us to look as if we’ve just returned from a week away in the Maldives – but, according to a fake tan guru, there are a few things to keep in mind when applying this bronzing product.
Louise Reid, from Bristol, shared the ABC of fake tanning on TikTok, after constantly being bombarded with questions about her routine and top recommendations.

The beauty blogger has a couple of products she reaches out for when bronzing up, but her favourite is Tan Express by Tanologist.
”The holy grail tan, it’s so good.
”It’s such a deep, dark colour, it lasts so well, I literally don’t have a bad word to say about this tan.”

When it comes to preparation, the tan guru reminded that there are a few things to remember.
”Shave everywhere the day before because you don’t want to shave the same day you’re tanning,
”You can always shave after you’ve tanned – it’s not going to take the tan off.”
Just as important, according to Loise, is exfoliating – this is something you should do every single shower up to fake tanning.
”Even if there’s no dry tan on there, your skin can still be dry in random places.”
Last but not least, she pointed out, is not forgetting to moisturise.
”I went through a stage of having really, really dark knees and the tan wasn’t as dark on my legs – it’s because it was so dry,” Louise told the audience.
The beauty guru also shared a screenshot of her tanning routine – this included everything from how and when to apply the mousse.
”I tan in the afternoon so it’s dry by bedtime,” she said.
When it comes to how much product to use, Louise revealed she usually goes for two layers in the space of 30 minutes.
”Maintenance – I honestly think maintenance is the most important step of getting the longevity of your tan.
One of her tips is using a gradual moisturiser.
”As soon as you get out of the shower, when your body’s still a bit wet, so it just soaks into your skin.
This is something to do after every single shower, she emphasised.
”I really thin since I’ve done that, my tan doesn’t go scaly, it doesn’t go dry.”
For recommendations, she suggested using Dove Summer Glow (£2.50 at B&M) and Summer Body by Garnier.
”I really hope this helps.”
One fan wrote: ”ur tan always looks flawless like its natural idk how do u keep this up.”
”never delete this,” someone begged.
”this vid is a life saver,” another agreed.
