It is understood the eye-catching motor was being driven to the Channel Tunnel and shipped to Milan at the time it was stopped.
The McLaren, which boasts a top speed of 208mph, was so low to the ground that police officers had to drive it away instead of getting a recovery truck.
A source said: “The cops couldn’t believe they’d seized a car worth seven figures that wasn’t insured on the road.
“The owner wouldn’t have been covered if he’d written it off.
“The McLaren wouldn’t physically fit onto a recovery truck without causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to the undercarriage.

“Officers drove it to a local nick before then heading to a recovery yard, where the car sat for more than a week before it was finally picked up.”
Mokhtari sent a truck to collect the car on Sunday and immediately had it shipped to Paris, where he posed for pictures with it in front of the Eiffel Tower today.
Kent Police said last night: “At around 6pm on Friday February 25, officers at the Channel Tunnel Terminal stopped a vehicle which was uninsured.
“The driver was given the opportunity to arrange insurance for the vehicle but was unable to do so and the vehicle was therefore seized.”
