I was wrongly fined £100 despite paying for a parking ticket – I can’t sleep after being threatened with debt collectors
A PENSIONER has told how she can’t sleep after being wrongly fined £100 despite paying for a parking ticket.
Sandra Fitzsimmons, 71, says she paid in cash when she used the Paradise Mill car park in Manchester on December 3.
Dozens of people say they have been wrongfully stung with parking fines[/caption]But on February 19 she received a letter claiming that she had parked her car without paying.
Sandra then emailed Car Park Securities, which owns the site – but she got no response.
However, soon they sent her another letter, demanding she pay £170.
They also told her that her case will be passed onto a debt recovery agent.
She told the Manchester Evening News: “This is a very worrying time for me.

“I’m 71 and not in the greatest of health and now I’m worried.
“I’m not sleeping because of fear of what is to come from this company.
“Any help will be a blessing as I just haven’t got the strength to fight these people.”
It’s thought Sandra is one of at least a dozen people who have been wrongly accused of not paying for the carpark.
Last week we told how a grandad is furious after a £100 parking fine landed on his doorstep – three months after the initial incident.
Eddie Valentine was handed the charge after parking up and paying for a ticket at the car park in November last year.
But he was slapped with a fine last month after bosses claimed he hadn’t paid for a ticket.
But Eddie insists Car Park Securities have got it wrong, and that he just entered his details incorrectly.
Meanwhile Becky Alex received three parking fines in three days dating back to November 2021.
She challenged on of the fines by sending an online banking screenshot proving she bought a ticket.
Her appeal was rejected because the bank transaction had the location Macclesfield attached to it.
But this week she received an email saying that the company had found her ticket.

She was told, similar to Eddie, that she had entered in her car registration incorrectly and will have to pay a £15 admin fee.
The Sun has approached Car Park Securities for comment.
