I tried a $1 tip to ensure my white laundry always stayed bright and was stunned at the results

A woman named Meredith Lane, who goes by @meredithlanelex on TikTok, posted a clip in which she shared one of her favorite laundry hacks.
It received over 300k views and is a great way to brighten the appearance of dull or discolored white sheets, towels, or shirts.
“This is my laundry hack for getting really white laundry,” she began.
She poured some dawn dish soap onto a small hand towel, threw it into a washing machine that was filled with white linens, and then added her regular detergent pod.

Although Meredith said that either hot or cold water would work, she likes to use the hot water cycle for whites.
“The rest is history,” she claimed, adding that the result will be stark white sheets or towels.
Many viewers said they’ve had luck with the hack:
“I have been doing this ever since I learned about it from TikTok and it really does work. Also makes my laundry feel cleaner,” one person wrote.

“I use it on stained shirts and pants to get mustard, ketchup, you name it out!” added another.

“Dawn also takes out any oily stains when applied directly to the stain (cooking oil, grease splatter, etc.),” a third claimed.
If this hack doesn’t make a difference in the color, Meredith said you can try bleach—though she doesn’t like to use it because she hates the smell.
