GEMMA Collins broke down in tears on stage on Monday night as she spoke about her father’s Covid battle which left him fighting for his life.
Alan was rushed to hospital in January 2021 before being placed in the ICU where he needed around the clock support to help him breathe.
Gemma Collins broke down in tears when talking about her dad’s battle with Covid[/caption]Thankfully, he pulled through but he’s now taking things much slower to aid his recovery.
Fighting back tears on stage at Troxy in East London, Gemma said: “Do you know what?
“When my dad was in hospital – and I am not just saying he was the only guy in hospital as I know a lot of families have been through a terrible time – but I never thought in that moment when he had a ventilator on him that this moment would happen.”

Breaking down the reality TV regular paused to wipe away tears as the crowd cheered her on in support.
Gemma continued: “No, I am just so happy. I am not sad guys.
“I am so happy and you should never take life or anyone for granted because it can go just like that.
“When dad walked in tonight I was like ‘thank you god’ – this man has been through one hell of a time but he has been able to come to the show tonight. This is the kind of stuff I want to share.”

Admitting her online persona is simply to keep fans entertained even if she is going through much darker moments in real life, Gemma said: “You see the Instagram it is fake. It is phoney.
“A lot of what goes on there is just put out there to keep you entertained but what is going on behind the scenes is real life.
“And my parents I owe everything to them as one they created me, so thank you. And they have been my biggest support.”
Speaking to The Sun in December about the ordeal, Gemma said: “My dad nearly passed with Christmas last year with Covid.
“He gets stronger every day. He is very up and down but he is under strict orders – I only let him work 3 days a week now.
“Long Covid is not a five minute thing. It is a journey. I was so traumatised by it. I keep having flashbacks now.

“I will be in the middle of the street or the shop and suddenly I will start crying and mum will be like ‘are you alright?’
“I just cant believe what happened this time last year.”
