Benzema bagged a brace in their 4-3 defeat at the Etihad, but wowed audiences with his Panenka penalty to reduce the deficit.
The 34-year-old has been breathtaking this season.
He’s scored 41 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 appearances to guide Real Madrid to a 15-point lead at the top of LaLiga.
He’s also scored hat-tricks in both the last-16 and quarter-finals of the Champions League to secure Real’s progress past PSG and Chelsea.
He finished fourth in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, but many expect him to finally take the crown this season.
City’s Ilkay Gundogan said: “He’s getting the attention and credit he deserves. His achievements speak for themselves. Benzema has everything it takes to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil tweeted: “What a fantastic game. Give my boy Benzi the Ballon D’Or!”
Elsewhere Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne are locked together at 13/2 in the betting markets.
The Egyptian winger has bagged 30 goals and provided 13 assists this term, and would be difficult to ignore should Liverpool land an historic quadruple.
It’s a similar story for De Bruyne, who could potentially walk away with the Premier League title and Champions League this year.
Further back at double-figure prices are Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski at 12/1 and 14/1 respectively.
Multiple winners Lionel Messi (20/1) and Cristiano Ronaldo (33/1) are perhaps the biggest prices they’ve ever been.
