Boss of troubled Tui earns £6.4m a year despite airline ruining thousands of holidays with cancelled flights
THE boss of airline Tui which has caused heartache with scores of cancelled flights and ruined holidays earns a staggering £6.4 million a year.
His deal includes a basic pay of around £1 million with added bonuses and incentive schemes worth up to a further £5.4 million, according to the company’s financial results for 2021.
Freidrich Joussen was also given a pension contribution on top of his bumper pay deal worth £402,000 – which increased from £184,000 the year before.
In total his pension is worth £4.2 million.
Joussen is married with four children and lives in Germany where Tui has its headquarters.
Seven other other key staff have deals worth up to almost £3 million a year, company documents show.

Tui has been blamed for ruining thousands of holidays after cancelling 180 flights from Manchester Airport until the end of the month.
The company blamed “ongoing disruption in our operation at Manchester” for the “incredibly difficult decision” to cancel 43 flights a week.
