South Carolina authorities announced on Friday they will be exhuming the body of former Murdaugh family housekeeper Gloria Satterfield to further investigate her death.

She had worked there for two decades, according to Fox News.
Last year, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division announced it was opening a criminal investigation into her death.
Hampton County requested further investigations after the coroner noted inconsistencies in the conclusion of Satterfield’s cause of death and information found during the agency’s ongoing investigations into father Alex Murdaugh’s wrongdoings.
“The decedent’s death was not reported to the Coroner at the time, nor was an autopsy performed,” the coroner’s request to SLED reportedly said at the time. “On the death certificate, the manner of death was ruled ‘Natural,’ which is inconsistent with injuries sustained in a trip and fall accident.”

According to court documents, Alex, an attorney, told Satterfield’s sons that he was personally responsible for the fall and that he would “sue himself” so that they would be financially taken care of.
Three years later, the family said that they had never received any money from Alex. In September, Satterfield’s sons filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him.
Alex made headlines after his wife and son were shot and killed in June 2021.
Just three months later, he was back in the news after it was confirmed on September 4 that he was shot in the head.

Murdaugh told police he had been shot on a road in rural Hampton County, South Carolina while changing a tire.
However, one day before the shooting, it emerged that Murdaugh was pushed out of his law firm over “millions in missing funds.”
Murdaugh admitted to authorities on September 13 that he had orchestrated and conspired with a man to kill him as part of the plan.
He was arrested on September 16 in connection to an insurance fraud scheme that court documents say involved him arranging for his own killing so his surviving son could collect the life insurance payout.
He faces charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and filing a false police report, according to a statement from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The case will be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s office.
In a statement made before his arrest that did not address the shooting, Murdaugh said: “The murders of my wife and son have caused an incredibly difficult time in my life.
“I have made a lot of decisions that I truly regret.
“I am immensely sorry to everyone I’ve hurt, including my family, friends, and colleagues.
