My hospital bill dropped from $4,000 to just $950 when I asked for a receipt – the healthcare system is a scam
A MAN claims he managed to get thousands of dollars cut from his hospital bill by simply asking for a receipt.
The man’s bill reportedly dropped from $4,000 to $950 after he requested an itemized receipt for the hospital visit, leaving him to wonder whether the US healthcare system is a scam.
TikTok user Tre’Jon Wilson posted about the experience in a video on the social media platform.
The video shows Wilson sitting in an office and looking at the camera with text on the screen explaining the hospital bill saga.
“Tell me why my hospital bill went from $4,000 to $950…all because I asked them for a receipt” the text reads, broadcasting Wilson’s claims that he got his bill reduced.
Wilson claims to have asked the hospital for an itemized receipt with a list of everything he was being charged for.
“They lowered my bill by 76%,” Wilson claims in the video.
The experience seems to have left him wondering about the state of the country’s healthcare system.
“Is it me or our health care system is a scam,” he says in the post.
Wilson’s TikTok post has since gone viral, with plenty of other users sharing their own experiences with hospital bill discrepancies.
