Countryfile viewers all have the same complaint as the show makes huge blunder
COUNTRYFILE viewers all had the same complaint after the show made a huge blunder tonight.
Sunday evening’s instalment of the BBC One programme saw presenter Joe Crowley visit Windermere town in the South Lakeland District of Cumbria.
The show explained that water companies are dumping less sewage into our rivers, but they have found evidence that has suggested otherwise.
Located in Windermere town is Windermere, the largest body of water in England.
As they introduced the segment, presenter Joe said: “Lake Windermere is one of our country’s most treasured places.
“An important site for wildlife and a major tourist attraction.”

But fans at home were quick to take to Twitter to point out an error.
One said: “It’s Windermere & not Lake Windermere! #countryfile.”
Another added: “It’s Windermere, not Lake Windermere. #countryfile.”
A third chimed in: “Only one lake, and it isn’t called Windermere. Doesn’t help that some local bloke in a kayak on the mere says “on the lake”… #Countryfile.”
Most read in TV
Despite many referring to Windermere as Lake Windermere, the only lake in the Lake District is Bassenthwaite Lake.
Windermere is 11 miles in length and when it is at its widest it can measure at 1 mile wide.

It is actually classified as a mere – a shallow lake in relation to its size (breadth).
The town was named after the lake.
