Lemon Juice
Besides from adding a citrus-y kick to your soft drink this summer, lemon juice also works wonders when removing old fake tan.
After all, you can always rely on lemon juice to basically bleach the area and remove the pigmentation.
You can either apply directly on to the skin or mix with a cup of sugar to double up as an exfoliator.
If lemon juice is tough enough to bleach your hair, it’s certainly up to the job of sorting out some fake tan gone wrong.
Toothpaste
Another safer method of fixing patches is by using another cabinet favourite – this time toothpaste.
Boots recommends using whitening toothpaste on any dark patches.
They said: “In the same way that toothpaste whitens teeth, it can also lighten fake-tan patches.
“Simply pop it onto any particularly unsightly patches, leave on for a minute and then wash off.”
Window cleaner
This beauty hack is one that you don’t want to try at home – but supermodel Ashley Graham seems to think it works.
Yes the plus-size campaigner revealed her very weird fake tan beauty hack on her Instagram stories.
Having suffered something of a fake tan disaster (because supermodels are human too, you know) Ashley looked no further than her trusty stash of window cleaner to sort the error of beauty ways.
And even though the harsh chemicals did a surprisingly good job of removing the orange streaks, there is no way anyone should be doing this at home.
After all those chemicals were meant for cleaning windows, NOT exfoliating legs.
Removal products
There are plenty of products for sale whose sole purpose being the removal of fake tan.
Bondi Sands’ Self Tan Eraser is incredible and removes your tan straight away, as does St Moriz’s Advanced Pro Formula Tan Remover.
Cocoa Brown’s Tough Stuff 3 in 1 Body Scrub is a great one too, as it exfoliates all the dead cells off.
