The only thing with more road presence than a G63 is a G63 4×42 and the latest version has just been revealed by Mercedes.

To explain, the 4×42 is essentially an even more extreme version of an already extreme SUV.
There was a previous version of the 4×42 based on the old G-Class, which ‘only’ produced 416bhp from its V8 engine.
This new version gets AMG’s latest twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 which makes an incredible 577bhp – as if it needed any more power.
There’s no word on 0-60mph times and top speed, but most AMG models are restricted to 155mph and that’s plenty fast enough.
It rides 35cm higher than standard on bigger wheels and tyres designed for extreme off-road use.

That also means it can wade through deeper water than a standard G-Class, now able to wade through 91cm of it.
And while the steepest climbs these cars will tackle is likely to be the kerb outside The Dorchester hotel, owners can rest assured their car is able to tackle 45-degree inclines if needed.
If you’re wondering why it’s painted bright green, there’s a reason.
It’s Mercedes-AMG’s ‘Green Hell’ green, which refers to the nickname of the infamous Nurburgring race track in Germany.
The race track is the last place this G63 should be heading, but there we are.

Inside you’ll find nightclub-like LED strip lighting, quilted leather seats and a sporty AMG steering wheel.
Mercedes’ head of the G-Class division, Toni Mäntele, said: “This car is really uncompromising, extravagant and it’s only available for a limited time.”
