Matt Willis bans all of his kids from social media after reaction to pic of son Ace wearing pink crop top ‘shocked him’
MATT Willis has revealed he doesn’t allow his children to use social media following the reaction to the photo of his son, Ace, wearing a pink crop top last year.
The snap caused quite a stir at the time and the Busted star, 39, admits it made him and wife Emma Willis really consider if they wanted their kids to be able to read comments about themselves online.
Speaking about the image, taken when Ace was nine, Matt said: “I just love my son and I let him be whoever he wants to be.
“I don’t see why how you want to dress or how you want to have your hair should be such a big talking point, but it is to some people and that really shocked me.
“And I think what happened after that really made me kind of go, ‘Yep, stay away from that [social media]’. It kind of really cemented that for me. I’m like, ‘I don’t want you having to worry about this s**t right now’.”
The star went to reveal that Ace is sometimes bothered when people “may think he’s a girl”, but he and Emma “solve that quite quickly”.

Matt told the Snot, Sweat and Tears podcast: “Sometimes it gets to him. He’s like, ‘I’m a boy, I just like to wear pink and I’ve got long blonde hair. What’s the issue?’
“He likes to wear all colours… it’s not like he lives in sparkly sequins and stuff. It’s not like he wears a princess dress every day, but, you know, that’s who he is and he just likes to be who he wants.”
Matt and Emma’s eldest daughter Isabelle, 13, desperately wants Tiktok, but they are adamant none of the children use social media.
“I think however much she wants it, she understands why we don’t want her to have it,” he explained.

“Eventually we’ll have a discussion together and I’m sure we’ll come to some agreement about it, but at the moment we’re managing to stay strong.
“The fact she’s the only girl in the class that doesn’t have it… I understand what she’s going through, but at the moment we’re still staying strong and saying no. She wants Tiktok more than anything.”
Matt and Emma are also parents to Trixie, five.
