But during a heatwave your leafy friends might need a bit more attention to stop them from wilting away.

Luckily, gardening whizz Felix Wilson, from Unclutterer.com, shared some helpful hacks to ensure your plants thrive, even in scorching heat.
He shared: “The common assumption is that when the UK is experiencing a heatwave, it is best to move houseplants into a cool spot near a fan.
“This is actually one of the worst things that you can do.”
According to the pro, aiming an electric fan at your houseplants will totally dry them out, making them much more prone to shrivelling up and dying.

Make sure you only water your plant’s soil, rather than pouring water directly on top of the plant and letting in run down the leaves.
Just because it’s hot doesn’t automatically mean your plants will need watering more.
Check to make sure the soil is dry all the way down before giving it extra water.
Watering plants early in the morning before the sun has fully risen will prevent the leaves from burning as well.

And always ensure you plants have full drained before returning them to their decorative pots, allowing them to sit in water can lead to root rot.
If your plants are live in especailly hot rooms, move them to a cooler space too.
Of course, not every plant’s the same, so make sure you know each of your plant’s particular likes and dislikes before making any big changes.
