Footie bosses launch hunt for fan whose day was wrecked when he was smacked by a ball and splattered with tomato soup

FOOTY bosses are trying to track down a fan whose day was ruined when he was whacked by a ball.

The unfortunate supporter was trying to enjoy a snack and a drink when it was knocked right out of his hand by a wayward shot.

The Elgin City fan’s day was ruined when he was whacked by the ball

He was caught on camera in an incredible snap that showed the luckless fan’s treat and hot tomato soup being splattered all over his white t-shirt.

The woman next to him appeared to be doing the move known as “the dab” as she tried to dodge the ball.

Management at Elgin City are now keen to talk to him to give him some freebies to make up for the mishap.

A club spokesman said: “Arguably the best photo taken at a football ground and the highlight of our premier sports cup group stage.

“If this is you please get in touch so we can organise some free refreshments for our next match.”

It’s thought the fan was treated to a free jersey on the day to cover up his splattered t-shirt.

One fan, Les McWilliam, said: “The worst possible liquid to get emptied on to your chest. Elgin city’s tomato soup. It’s absolutely roasting.”

Another, John Mckenzie, said: “Never take your eyes off the ball – basic skills.”

The home team lost 2-0 to visitors Queen of the South in the Premier Sports cup tie.
