The DIY expert said: “A scrubbing brush lightly along the grain is key to cleaning and maintaining this wood.
“If you scrub too hard then the wood might ‘blonde’. Don’t worry if this does happen. The beautiful natural grey of this wood will return if you leave the furniture in the sun.”
To keep teak in good condition, Mr Englezos suggests covering it when not in use to prevent irrepressible damage from bird poo.
Pine furniture
Pine is a super affordable wood – but it’s also the least durable.
The DIY expert recommends sealing your pine with stain or timber sealant to protect it from spills.
“If the worst does happen, you can also use toothpaste and baking soda as a way to lift wood stains,” he adds.
Mix the two together and rub onto the stain until it feels warm, then wipe away with a clean, damp cloth.
