Neighbours star shares Kennedy family reunion pics as fan fury rages on over soap’s axe
NEIGHBOURS STAR Alan Fletcher has shared a heart-warming picture of a real-life Kennedy family reunion.
The iconic, long-running Australian soap ended earlier this month, after 37 incredible years, with Alan being one of the show’s longest serving stars.

Fletcher played the role of Dr Karl Kennedy for 28 years.
The soap’s resident GP is pretty much as iconic as the come, having been at the centre of Neighbours’ finest stories, such as his affair with Izzy Hoyland (Natalie Bassingthwaighte), not to mention his many heated showdowns with wife Susan (Jackie Woodburne)
The actor, shared a sweet snap of himself with his on-screen wife Jackie Wodburne (Susan Kennedy) and their soap daughter Kym Valentine (Libby Kennedy).
The Kennedy family were all smiles in the lovely photo posted on Instagram, along with the caption: Lovely to catch up with the TV family for lunch!!
As the soap came to an end, Fletcher shared how emotional it was for him filming his final scenes on Ramsay Street.

“It was very hard to fight back tears as we were saying the dialogue for what was going to be the last moments of the show, “he shared with The Mirror.
Adding: “There were hundreds of people in the studio to watch that final piece of filming. We had some speeches. I said a few words. There were some tears. There were some celebrations.”
The former Neighbours star isn’t stopping though, despite the soap coming to an end. Fletcher has a busy schedule lined up.
The actor will be starring in a thread of live shows coming up about his time on Neighbours, as Karl called,The Doctor Will See You Now.
Alan will also be part of Neighbour UK farewell tour which will take place next year.
Fletcher shared how excited he was for his future plans, and what he has planned after saying good-bye to Neighburs, saying: “In the last year, I’ve been writing and recording country and Americana music. So as soon as Neighbours ends, I launch my EP here in Australia, he told Digital Spy.
He continued: “Then I jump over to the UK and do a couple of gigs in London. Then, in September, I come back and do the Dr Karl tour as well as playing some music. So it’s very busy for me, I’ve got to say, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Shortly after the much-loved Australian soap got the boot, fan’s were livid to find out that it’s slot was replaced with television programme, Cash Attic.
Taking to Twitter, angry fans shared their opinions.
One fan wrote: “How the deuce has Neighbours been replaced by Channel 5’s resurrection of Cash in the Attic!!!”
Another blasted: “Who wants to watch that? It was cancelled on BBC years ago.”
The popular auction series originally ran on the BBC from 2002 until 2012.
