LEICESTER CITY have signed a big name striker.

But Foxes fans won’t have to worry about how he settles in at the King Power after Jamie Vardy agreed to extend his current deal to June 2024.

The 35-year-old Leicester legend has already scored 164 goals in 387 appearances since signing from non-league Fleetwood Town for a bargain £1million in 2012.

It means Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has missed out on another target after Vardy decided to pen a new deal which means he is likely to finish his top flight career with the Foxes.

The veteran striker who celebrated 10 years with the club in May, also turned his back on potential interest from Chelsea to commit to Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.

The settled striker told LCFC.com: “I’m obviously over the moon.

Cristiano Ronaldo gets Sporting Lisbon OFFER, Dele Alli Besiktas loan AGREED

“Once I heard it was something the Club was looking at, there was only one thing that was going to happen, and I was going to sign it. The decision was easy.

“I’ve been here long enough now that I feel like part of the furniture. I think you can see with the way we’re trying to play, the way the Club’s wanting to go, that it’s going to be onwards and upwards.

“Now it’s all about this season and finishing as high as we can. My legs are still feeling great so I’ll carry that on helping the Club as much as I can, whether that’s scoring or assisting, that’s what I’m here to do.”

The 35-year-old, who is the Foxes top earner on £140,000 a week, has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield and Championship titles with Leicester.

He was a key figure in the Club’s promotion to the top-flight in 2013/14, finding the net on 16 occasions, and played a vital role in the historic escape from relegation the following season.

Last season was a difficult one for Vardy, who only featured 25 times in the league due to niggling injuries.

However he still finished the campaign as Leicester’s top Premier League scorer with 15 goals and two assists to prove to the Foxes board he was well worthy of a new deal.
