I’m a cleaning fan…there’s a trick to making sure your tap smells amazing after you’ve cleaned it and it’s under £1
THERE’S nothing better than having a clean home – so it’s important to make sure you get all the nitty gritty bits too.
Usually when cleaning the kitchen, you’d think it was pretty straight forward – but there is one spot in the sink that people often forget.
Taking to TikTok to share the news, Charlotte April Ann Reilly revealed that you actually need to dismantle part of the sink in order to really complete your clean.
She says that you need to unscrew the drain, in order to get underneath it as it’s a place that can collect dirt and cause the sink to smell.
She says: “I live in a very clean house, I clean it almost everyday if not twice a day.
“But this sink, there is something going on.

“You can undo the sink, and clean it which will stop the smell.”
Charlotte used a spoon to unscrew the sink.

She continues: “I’ve got to put my hair up for this, I can smell it already.
“I’m going to rip it out, it needs it. I’m not living in this house when it looks like that.”
Once she pulls the top of the drain out, she shows the camera the dirt which has been caught underneath it.
She says: “That is why I can smell, to the point I had a glass of water the other day from the tap.
“I don’t normally have them but we didn’t have any bottles from Costco and I was ill, I literally had a cough for five days.”
She used Mould and Mildew Blaster, which costs around 94p to clean the sink.
Charlotte says: “I sprayed this on it, and let it sit for a few minutes.
“Then I’m going to put boiling hot water on it, and then I’m going to completely gut it.”
Additionally, as an extra, she used Flash Bleach, which cost around £1 before spraying and scrubbing it.
Charlotte then screws the top back on, and finishes it off with a sink unblock liquid, followed by baking soda and white vinegar to make sure the sink is super clean.
She then finishes it off with boiling hot water to help everything wash down the drain.
‘Completely gut it’
Many other cleaning fans rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “Omg i’m definitely doing this with mine i’m pregnant and the smell actually makes me gag so much.”

And Charlotte replied, writing: “Make sure you don’t put no water down the sink until you’ve screwed the screw back in.”
However, some homeowners are urging people to be careful as it might cause your sink to leak.
