Jim Davidson rages at ‘idiot’ drivers for blocking pavement near his £1.5m home after swooping in ‘like vultures’

JIM Davidson has slammed inconsiderate drivers who keep blocking the pavement near his £1.5m home.

The comedian, 68, moaned he often sees a string of badly parked cars from his garden on the banks of the River Test, in Stockbridge, Hampshire

He said pedestrians have to squeeze past cars on the pavement.

Davidson told The Sun: “It’s a nightmare.

“I’ve lived in Stockbridge for 15 years and I’m turning into an old grumbler.

“These idiot drivers are like vultures – when one car comes out of a space there’s five waiting to go in.

“It’s like when you throw a bit of bread up and a million seagulls swoop in for it.

“People are parking in places they shouldn’t and it means you have to walk single file on the pavement.

“Quite often cars are just left on the street and on the bridge here – I can see them from my house.

“You couldn’t get a pushchair or a wheelchair through.”

There are few parking spaces in the picturesque town, which attracts tourists for its narrow streets, independent shops, and cafes.

During the summer badly parked cars regularly block combine harvesters travelling through the town.

RACE RANT

Davison urged council chiefs to paint double yellow lines and said police should patrol the roads to tackle selfish drivers.

But shop owners worry restrictions could cost them customers.

One said: “The obvious answer would be to put double yellow lines on the bridge, but that would mean enforcing it with parking inspectors and tickets.

“Nothing puts visitors off more than a parking ticket, so I’m worried it would be bad for our businesses.”

Jim Davidson rose to fame hosting much loved TV programmes including The Generation and snooker-based quiz show Big Break, which could soon be set return.

Last year he hit the news after walking out on Diversity star Ashley Banjo during an interview.

He posted on Facebook: “Can someone speak to the Police about people parking on the pavement near the bridge “I just saw a woman leave a two foot gap from her car to the wall….. looked at me as if I was in the way…. Time for yellow lines?”

He added: “I’m surprised that no one’s got hurt. “I don’t know if they’re tourists, but people will park anywhere – I’m surprised they don’t park on my driveway.

“And the police have said the parked cars slow the traffic down. “I think they should put some signs up or double yellows to stop people.

“Residents can’t get their motorised scooters along the pavement, and this town is full of dead people who haven’t fallen over yet – myself included.”
