I’m a bra expert – why your cup size ISN’T the most important factor when getting fitted
YOU might think your cup size is the most crucial part of finding a bra that fits.
But one bra expert revealed just how different two people can look even though they wear the same cup size.

PerfectDD is a clothing company that focuses on making items for larger chests. On TikTok, the brand’s founder Alice Kim busts common myths about bras and breasts.
In a recent video, Kim explained how two different bodies can have the same cup size, and it might change how you think about bras.
“Here’s an example of two people, both DDs, but different band sizes,” Kim said.
On the screen, two different PerfectDD models stood next to each other in gray shirts and black shorts.

A caption revealed that the woman on the left wore a size Medium, while the woman on the right wore a size Extra Small.
The models turned to show how their chests varied in size, even though they both wear a DD bra.
“As the band size increases, the same cup size will increase in volume,” Kim explained. “A 32DD is smaller than a 36DD.”
Then, the models stepped forward so Kim could show just how significant the difference was.

“Take a look at the projection,” she said, using a measuring tape to gauge how far each woman’s bra protruded from her its band.
“A 36DD is about six inches, whereas the projection of a 32DD is five inches,” she explained.

Even though a DD cup bra is often considered “large,” Kim said, “Not all DDs are massive or look the same.”
In the comments, PerfectDD’s TikTok followers were amazed by the comparison.
“This is wildly helpful to see a side by side,” one person wrote.
“Mine look different depending on the bra, the day, and who I’m standing next to,” another viewer said.
One woman said that the post was especially validating as she often felt dismissed by others when talking about bra size.
“I appreciate this,” she said. “I am a 32 G and no one ever believes me because mine don’t ‘look big enough.'”
“Those who fall into this category can relate,” the PerfectDD team wrote back. “There should be no judgment or comments about other people’s bodies regardless of size.”
