KFC fan shares famous recipe from the fast-food chain & customers are shocked at the ‘secret ingredient’
A KFC fan has shared a secret ingredient found in the seasoning of KFC’s chicken – and customers have been left horrified.
The woman, who is from New Zealand, took to a Facebook group and shared a snap of the “Colonel Sanders’ Recipe” seasoning pouch, The Daily Star reports.
The packet makes clear it’s “exclusively for use in the KFC system.”
However, eagle-eyed fans have been left horrified after discovering that the main ingredient used in the New Zealand branch is Monosodium Glutamate, which is also known as MSG.
The other list of ingredients used are “Herbs and Spices, Salt and Garlic Powder”.
MSG isn’t used in chicken in the UK, instead, recipes in the UK branches use 11 herbs and spices.

According to Healthline, MSG is a flavor-enhancing additive that was considered to be a toxic ingredient during the 1960s.
However, recent evidence has dispelled this myth and instead suggests that MSG is safe when consumed in moderate amounts.

The woman who shared the initial photo penned: “It’s like salt on crack.”
It wasn’t long before other social media users took to the comments section to offer their views on the discovery – and responses were mixed.

“I’m certain that MSG has never been banned, and all the myths surrounding it (being) bad for you have been disproven,” wrote one.
A second commented: “Yuck, no wonder I always feel sick afterwards.”
KFC confirmed on its website that it uses MSG in some countries.
“Some of our food does contain MSG but rest assured, it’s only present at levels that are safe for the general population.”

A KFC Spokesperson told Fabulous: “Our finger lickin’ chicken’s 11 herbs and spices are a famously guarded secret – but we will let you in on the fact that MSG is not one of them in the UK.”
