However, one woman came up with a brilliant idea to ensure her kitchen looked chic without spending too much money – using rechargeable under counter lights.
Hannah Martin posted on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, sharing pictures of the lights in action as she wrote: “I’m in love with my new, motion activated, USB rechargeable under counter lights to save having to put the mains lights on!”
She added that she’d picked up the lights from B&M at just £12 each.
And considering they provide such “excellent lighting”, she’s also put one “under my radiator in my hallway and bathroom”.

“I’m lucky to have solar panels so can charge in the daytime when needed for free but with the soaring energy prices, any little saving is a bonus,” she concluded.
People quickly commented on Hannah’s post to praise her for the idea, with one writing: “They are a great product.”
“I have something similar in my kitchen, utility room, stairs and bathroom. They are great,” another added.
“Thank you for this. I shall go in tomorrow and hope to buy a couple, for top of the stairs to bathroom,” a third commented.
