I gave my kid a Nintendo Switch at her friend’s party so she didn’t feel left out – her mum was absolutely furious
A MUM was blasted as a “show off” after she gave her daughter a Nintendo Switch at another child’s birthday party.
Posting on Reddit the mum explained that she decided to give her kid the gift then as it hadn’t arrived in time for her own birthday party – leaving the other mum fuming.

“She’s been asking for a Switch for a while now, and I think she’s gotten old enough and mature enough that I can trust her with a big present like that.”
Explaining that it would arrive too late for her own birthday, she decided to present the present at her friend Jolene’s party the following day.
She explained: “I figured that since we were still in the party spirit, I would just give Stephie the Switch after cake at Jolene’s party.

“Nothing more than that. Just the unwrapping and then the spotlight would be right back on Jolene.
“After the party was over I got a call from Jolene’s mom essentially asking me what the hell I was thinking. That I was ‘undermining’ her because she couldn’t afford something like a Switch for Jolene.
“Jolene’s mom also called me petty and a show-off (she and I do not like one another and I won’t sugarcoat it, but I put that aside for the kids because our issues aren’t their fault, which Jolene’s mom is definitively not doing).”
She went on to add that even her own husband had disagreed with her move, explaining that while he could see where she was coming from he thought she could have chosen better timing.

“That is NOT correct etiquette, why not give it to her AFTER the party,” said another.
