Rich House Poor House getting major change due to cost of living crisis and viewers will be livid
THE cost of living crisis has finally hit the TV industry – with daytime favourite Rich House, Poor House being ditched.
In its place Channel 5 is currently filming a pilot called Old Money New Money, which involves a similar experiment where two families from opposite ends of the economic spectrum swap homes for a week to find out about each other’s lives.

Except the new show will involve two wealthy families — one from old money, the other from new.
A TV insider said: “If this proves popular it could lead to a full series, which is sure to delight fans of Rich House, Poor House.
“Although it’s a slightly different set-up it’s still based on the same theme of watching how people adjust to a different way of living.
And that’s been the key to the success of the original show.

Now Channel 5 will be hoping this spin-off works just as well.”
The show will include one group of people who struck it rich through business, hard work or a lucky windfall who see what it’s like to live the lifestyle of people who have had their wealth handed down to them.
Rich House, Poor House has been airing since 2017 and is one of Channel 5’s most viewed daytime shows.
It has produced some incredible stories too, including Demi and Ben Gowland-Jeffries from County Durham, who took part in the show in 2019.

The singer, who is partnered with Vito Coppola, said: “EastEnders. That’s a no-brainer, I am an East Ender and my last name is East. I would love that, even if it was just a walk-on role, I need to get in there with James Bye (fellow contestant and EastEnders actor).
“Imagine if I was just walking round Albert Square, or to have a moment in the Queen Vic and to have a pint, that would be a dream.”
Paralympian Ellie Simmonds said: “Being from the West Midlands it has got to be Peaky Blinders – I’d love to be Tommy Shelby’s wife.”

“I was experiencing emotions I’d never felt and I could not just switch off, I had to ride through all the ups and downs.
“The worst part for me was everything was out of our control, we could do everything right and it still might not work, that was a hard pill to swallow.”
