Linda, 64, said: “I have actually been talking to EastEnders.
“They are looking for Lola’s mum. She’s not very well is she? I don’t watch the soaps so I don’t know, but I met her at the NTAs the other day, and she said she would love me to play her mum.”
Linda was approached again at the awards bash by someone behind the scenes on the BBC soap and the actress confirmed her interest in heading to Albert Square.
She said: “I don’t know if it was the casting director who came up to me at the NTAs and said, ‘How come you’ve never been on EastEnders?’
“And I said, ‘It’s because you ain’t ever f*****g asked me.’ And he said, ‘Well we’re asking you now.’

“It would be nice because I’d like to do some acting. I’ve just done two episodes of Hapless and then I did Sumotherhood with Adam Deacon.”
She added: “I wouldn’t like to be a regular, because I wouldn’t be able to do Loose Women, I wouldn’t mind doing a stint like a month there or something.”
An EastEnders insider told The Sun: “It’s lovely to hear Linda would love a part in the show but no official conversations have taken place with her.”

Lola’s character was first introduced back in 2011 when her step-grandfather Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and his then-girlfriend Julie Perkins (Cathy Murphy) decided to track down Dan Pearce, the son she had given up for adoption.
Upon finding out that Dan had died they set out to find his 15-year-old daughter Lola, who had been put into care.
The character was dealt a shocking blow earlier this month when she learned she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The Sun has contacted EastEnders for comment.
