I’m a head teacher but after school I’m working all night at my side hustle – kids think I’m crazy but I love it
A HEAD teacher is swapping his suit for an apron as he tackles his side hustle working nights in a chippie.
Lee Humphreys bought Fish Kitchen 1854 in South Wales with his wife Sam back in 2018.
He works at the eatery during the day while Lee carries out his duties as head of Pencoedtre High School.
But he pitches in to help when he can and has even earned the nickname “Mr Chips”.
The 43-year-old told the BBC: “It’s busy but I would not have it any other way. The kids think I’m crazy.”
Lee bought the restaurant on a whim after spotting it was up for auction.

As the chippie is around 20 miles from his school, he is not often visited by his pupils.
But Lee said they are “interested and intrigued” by his second job – although he has not yet helped out in his school canteen.
He said: “I have joked about it with the canteen ladies but it’s only tongue in cheek.
“Something will present itself and I’ll take my uniform into school.”
The restaurant is one of two Welsh chippies to be nominated for Takeaway of the Year at The National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.
Lee is hoping to make final ten of the competition so he can travel to London for the ceremony.
