I gave my ex-council house a makeover on a tight budget – it took five years but now it looks like a different property
ANYONE who has had work done on their house will know that renovating doesn’t come cheap.
But one savvy woman has set out to prove that you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it – and you don’t need to break the bank.
Lexie, who posts under the acronym @themumfluencermission, took to TikTok and shared a video revealing how she transformed an ex council house into her dream home – all while on a tight budget.
She shared a series of before snaps – including a very dated kitchen that featured green cupboards and basic flooring, a tired-looking bathroom and dark and dingy bedrooms.
After setting to work, the DIY fan unveiled her very impressive handiwork – and the rooms look almost unrecognisable.
The kitchen has been given a new lease of life thanks to the modern white tiles with black grouting and marble worktop, while the bathroom now looks stylish with grey tiles and silver tap-wear.

Meanwhile, the once basic bedrooms have been given an injection of colour – adding character to each of them.
Alongside the images, Lexie penned: “It took us from the moment we completed in January 2017 all the way up to when we put it on the market in March but we did it!

“It wasn’t without its highs and lows and running out of money on more than one occasion!
“I just hope the new owners love it as much as we did!
